Favorite Public Health, Business, and Learning Podcast Episodes: Summer 2024 Edition
This summer I have been prioritizing movement and increasing my steps. I’m taking a bunch of mini walks throughout the day and one of my favorite things is to pop in my headphones and listen to a podcast while I walk. So I thought it would be fun to share some of my favorite episodes, in a few different categories.
(1) Recruiting, Interviewing, and Onboarding
A priority project for my business in May-July 2024 was recruiting and hiring my first project coordinator! To prepare for this process, I listened to lots of helpful podcast episodes:
#34: How to Create an Accountability Action Plan for Your Team
#96: How To Interview
#100: Why Your Team Members Need a Core Role
#150: Making Time for Onboarding
#290: From Resume to Reality: The First Month with a New Hire
The Growth Show with Whitney Bateson
#13: Hiring Help in your Business
(2) Accessibility, Working with Nonprofits, and Workforce Development
I love learning more about different aspects of learning and development and how I can integrate this new knowledge into my work with clients. Here are some of my favorite recent episodes:
Learning for Good
March 11, 2024: Workforce Development: Using Data to Move from Status Quo to Training Impact
The Dr. Luke Hobson Podcast
#102: Making Online Content Accessible for All
The L&D Hotseat
S2, #10: The Unique Challenges for Non-Profit L&D
The Education Table
#3: Turns Out You’re Not a Visual Learner After All…The Truth About Learning Styles
(3) General Business and Life Management
As magical as summer can be with sunshine, swimming, and beach trips…it can also be really overwhelming for me trying to work (and take care of my house/family/life) with kids home from school, navigating various camp schedules and driving logistics, and trying to accomplish projects with so many clients and collaborators out of the office.
Therefore, I’m always on the lookout for ways to minimize my overwhelm and increase my productivity in the limited work hours that I have. Here are some of my favorites this summer:
Public Health Joy!
S3, #9: Planning your processes- Organization for Community-Engaged Research Success
The Biz of NonProfit Consultants
Best of Both Worlds
#365: Design your Ideal Work Week
The Lazy Genius
#366: Twenty Helpful Decisions I Keep Repeating
(I love her principle of “Decide Once”!)
I’d love to hear from you!
