Public Health Consultants Offer Complimentary Resources and Services During The COVID-19 Crisis

Earlier this week I wrote about how public health consultants can help during the COVID-19 crisis. I listed the skills, services, and expertise they bring and offered to match you up with consultants available for hire to provide that support or service.

Today I’m writing to share that many public health consultants are also offering complimentary resources and services at this time.

They can support individuals and organizations with professional development, health education, and workplace response resources:

(1) Ann K. Emery (Depict Data Studio):

Complimentary mini course- How to Look Professional on Camera While Suddenly Working from Home

This is such a neat resource for people scrambling to convert in person events and meetings to virtual. In this self-paced online course, Ann offers 8+ behind the scenes video tours of her remote offices and home recording studios. She covers many different tech set ups, from recording online courses to video interviews.

(2) Nedra Weinreich (Social Marketing University):

Complimentary enrollment until the end of April 2020- Change for Good Crash Course: Social Marketing Fundamentals

As public health leaders try to communicate the large changes we need people to make in their everyday lives to help slow the spread of COVID-19, we need more people who understand how to influence behavior change! Nedra teaches this with social marketing- applying the fundamentals of marketing for behavior change to health and social issues.

The Change for Good Crash Course is a unique online training that gives you the knowledge and skills you need to design an effective social marketing strategy for your program. The web-based format allows you to progress at your own speed, quickly gaining an understanding of how social marketing works and taking the time you need to apply the lessons to your own issue.

(3) Robyn Correll (Adjuvant Media):

Facebook discussion group for community health workers, promotores and instructors to talk to each other, ask questions, find CEU opportunities, and get the most up-to-date info to help their communities through this pandemic.

Robyn is a community health worker (CHW) Instructor. She has been developing webinars and other resources on COVID-19 for CHWs, and the response has been overwhelming. Now, more than ever, there's a real need to equip CHWs on the front lines of public health with information and resources, as well as an opportunity to share their successes with each other. So she has created this discussion group to share support and resources.

(4) Christie VanHorne (How To Talk To Your Doctor):

Webinar: Coronavirus: Myth Busters! Complimentary recording available.

Please note: This was recorded on March 17, 2020. Information is changing daily.

There is a lot of information coming at us from all directions. Christie’s webinar will help you learn more about social distancing, self-care, and which information sources are valid. She helps ease fears by providing accurate information.

Christie anticipates developing additional resources, so stay-tuned for more to come from How to Talk to Your Doctor

 (5) Kristy Schirmer (Zockmelon):

Webinar: Social Media and COVID-19 Communication. Complimentary recording available.

Please note: This was recorded on March 20, 2020. Information is changing daily.

We are all scrolling, watching, planning, thinking, worrying, looking for news and information.

The pressure is on communicators and social media managers. This is true even if your organization has nothing (seemingly) to do with the coronavirus pandemic. Social media managers in almost all organizations need to build in contingency plans for communicating what COVID-19 will mean for their communities.

These webinar resources from Kristy are to assist communicators in health, not for profits, and government agencies (including Local Government).

(6) Liz Simpler & Giana Vasconcellos (Working Mama Collective (WMC) Public Health Consulting):

Complimentary consultations and resources

WMC is offering complimentary consultations to their key audiences (businesses- HR, managers; moms wanting workplace reform; and moms wanting holistic health coaching services). These calls will help evaluate their needs and identify resources.

WMC is also offering complimentary resources in the following areas- webinars for companies needing support, worksite wellness help, resources for families, and support for newly remote working mothers with kids at home. They are using zoom calls to do health histories for working mothers. They also have a burnout tool kit.

You can contact Liz & Giana here.

(7) Melissa Reams (Upstream Consulting):

Complimentary health communication services

Upstream Consulting provides program development, evaluation, and grant writing services to help health and social service organizations make a bigger community impact. At this time, Melissa and her team are helping to design COVID-19 social media posts for organizations to send out to their communities and clients.

You can contact Upstream Consulting here.

(8) Quisha Umemba (Umemba Health):

Complimentary virtual health appointments

Umemba Health, and its team of health and wellness experts, provides virtual care solutions that improve access to care, increase patient engagement and satisfaction, improve health outcomes, reduce healthcare utilization and lower costs.

From March 30-April 30, 2020, Quisha and her team will offer complimentary virtual appointments for high-risk individuals that have screened positive for coronavirus, and that also have one of the following chronic conditions: diabetes, prediabetes, hypertension, or kidney disease. The appointments are not intended to provide definite diagnosis or treatment protocols but instead will teach those affected how to self-manage their conditions and assist them in formulating a self-care plan.  Appointments can be booked online.

I wanted to feature these consultants on the blog to help readers easily access their resources and also to provide an opportunity to thank them for their generosity. I am always impressed with the public health consultants in my network, both in terms of the knowledge they bring and their commitment to serving their communities.
