Roman Public Health Consulting: 2025 Reflections and 2026 Planning
Happy New Year!
I hear from my blog readers and LinkedIn connections that they really enjoy my annual reflections and business planning for the upcoming year, so I’m happy to make it an annual feature on the blog. I’ll review my business data, highlight key 2025 findings and reflections, and share 2026 plans.
I preface this post by saying that it was an incredibly hard year in public health. We lost many trusted and talented professionals from our workforce. We lost funding for essential services, research, and emerging threats.
This public health landscape strongly impacted my consulting work in 2025.
ADA Title II Compliance: Take a Team Approach in Public Health, Healthcare, and Public Safety

In the second post, we discussed how to get started. Specifically, we highlighted how to fight overwhelm and start by taking small action steps.
Today, we are talking about why it is important to take a team approach to Title II compliance and digital accessibility.
September 2025 Webinar: How to Build Accessibility Planning into Your Health Education Training Workflow
RPH Consulting has a webinar collaboration with SOPHE on September 17, 2025.
Designing accessible health education training content has wide-ranging individual and organizational-level benefits. These include compliance with funder and legal requirements, reaching a broader learning audience, creating a better user experience, and shifting from an individual accommodation-based framework to designing for all learners. Unfortunately, accessibility planning is often an afterthought in our workforce development efforts. It is a quick final review to confirm we have video captions or transcripts. It is an item to be checked off before our training or course launches.
Join the webinar and let’s learn together how to change that!
Accessibility Should Not Be an Afterthought: Designing Inclusive Learning Experiences
This week, SOPHE kicked off another National Health Education Week (NHEW). The theme is Advancing Health, Equity and Civil Rights. Over the past year, I have made learning about designing accessible e-learning a professional development priority. Since accessibility is a key component to developing equitable and inclusive learning experiences, it felt like a great fit to write about it during NHEW.
How Health Education and Instructional Design Align: Reflections for National Health Education Week
In honor of National Health Education Week 2021, I thought it would be fun to visit selected responsibilities and competencies for health education specialists (2020) and make connections with instructional design. This is definitely not an exhaustive list of where they overlap, but these are some of my favorites!
