I get a lot of questions via email and social media. Sometimes they are specific to public health consulting, and sometimes they are questions about my work and life more broadly. I’m excited to share some of the questions and my responses here in my first mailbag post.

While it can be expensive to pay for formal classes in a degree or certificate program, it is FREE to learn with books and podcasts. So, I will be writing periodic blog posts that highlight my favorite resources.

“Interested in public health consulting? What’s holding you back?”  A few months ago, I posted these questions on my Instagram account . A dozen people responded with comments and direct messages. There was a lot of consistency in the fears and worries that followers said were holding them back from pursuing consulting.

It is incredible how one piece of advice can impact your whole life. Obviously, it is something I needed to hear eight years ago. I think so many of us go into public health because we are “helpers.” While it is wonderful to be a helper, it does not mean that you have to work for free or be burned out because you cannot say no.
