Ever wonder what it would be like to work for yourself?

If so, you’re not alone. So please join me on an upcoming webinar hosted by the Society for Public Health Education (SOPHE).

This FREE, live webinar Five Essential Skills for Aspiring Health Education Consultants” will be held Thursday, July 18, 2019 from 2-3pm Eastern Time.

Self-employed workers (including consultants, contractors, and freelancers) are an important part of the public health workforce. They take on discrete projects that run the gamut from grant writing to program evaluation. This work structure can provide substantial benefits for both parties. Public health organizations can bring in specialist skills and fill unmet program needs, while self-employed health educators can enjoy a career path that provides flexibility and independence to pursue projects and topics of interest.

This webinar will discuss professional preparation for aspiring health education consultants. It is geared towards health educators of all levels who are interested in self-employment.

A key competency in the health education profession is the ability to provide advice and consultation on health education and health promotion issues. In order to consult effectively, health educators need a variety of interpersonal, critical and creative thinking, and practical skills. This presentation will highlight five skills that are essential for aspiring health education consultants. Real-life examples of how these skills intersect with leading a consulting business will be presented.
