Three Reasons You Should Join a Public Health Mastermind Group

UPDATE: Registration for my 2019 mastermind is now closed. Please join the interest list for 2020!

Are you a public health consultant or entrepreneur who misses having a team of people at the office to bounce around ideas and help solve problems?

If so, I think you will love joining my mastermind!

A mastermind group is a peer-to-peer learning model used to help members solve their problems with input and advice from the other group members. It also provides a strong system of accountability to help members set and reach both short and long-term goals. Basically, you get in the room (or virtual room) with a bunch of smart, experienced people and you and your business will benefit. Big time!

When I asked around and realized that many public health entrepreneurs had not even heard of masterminds, let alone participated…I decided to create one just for us!

Here are three reasons that I think you should join:

(1) Community

One of the biggest fears I hear about consulting is fear of isolation. People are scared that they’ll work from home and talk to no one and miss the socializing and teamwork in the office. The mastermind will give you the opportunity to join a cohort of public health colleagues that will work together for five months. You’ll build your network and have a group of people cheering you on as you work towards your goals.

(2) Accountability

When you work alone, no one knows if you break a promise to yourself. Or move a big goal farther down the to do list. But, if you are in my mastermind group, you will have accountability for weekly goals. And it works!

If I set a goal of completing my course outline by the next mastermind call…you better believe I’ll get it done! Because I have a group of people waiting to hear all about it.

(3) Opportunity to Think Bigger

Your mastermind group will have a wide range of experience and skills. Maybe you never thought it was possible to develop online courses while you are knee deep in client work…but group members teach you how it can be done efficiently. Maybe you feel overwhelmed by social media and do not want to make the leap to Instagram. But group members give you practical ways to find your target audience there and grow your followers in 2019. Maybe you feel overwhelmed as a company of one and group members help you find ways to automate parts of your business so you gain more time. Your group will push you to think bigger.

I hope you’ll join us for the 2019 mastermind! The online application is available here .

The deadline is February 8, 2019.

FAQs are below.

Frequently Asked Questions about the Mastermind Group:

(1) Who is an ideal group member?

Ideal members are:

  • Established public health consultants and entrepreneurs who have been operating their businesses for a minimum of six months. The value of a mastermind comes from the peer-to-peer learning, so it is most appropriate for business owners who are past the initial start-up phase. Group members can be operating their businesses part-time or full-time.

  • Entrepreneurs who are motivated to reach new goals in 2019 (e.g., launch new products or services, explore a new niche market, etc.)

  • Entrepreneurs who can commit to attending a weekly Zoom call. The calls will be held on the same day and time each week. The time will be selected based on members’ availability.

  • The group will have 4 - 8 members.

(2) Who do you consider a “public health entrepreneur”?

I am looking for public health professionals who are self-employed (part-time or full-time) and who provide valuable products and services to their clients. I am hoping to recruit members who bring diversity both in terms of geographic location as well as their topic and service niches. For example, I welcome the following professionals to apply: consultants, freelance writers, grant writers, public health dietitians, program evaluators, online course developers, trainers and meeting facilitators, podcasters, bloggers, and health coaches*.

*Health coaches with formal education, training, and certification in public health and health education will be considered. Coaches who sell products for multi-level marketing companies will not be a good fit for this particular mastermind group.

(3) How long is the program?

The program is five months long and will run from March 1 – July 31, 2019.

(4) How much does the program cost?

The investment is $120/month (that comes to only $30/week!) That includes weekly Zoom meetings and goal setting, communication channels for ongoing discussion, resource libraries, and more!

(5) What is the application process?

The online application is available here  The deadline is February 8, 2019.

Applicants should expect a 15-20 minute phone call with me to discuss their application prior to the group/s being finalized in mid to late February.
